Tour Highlights

  • From Bronze Age treasures to modern art, medieval manuscripts to political protest posters, you’ll encounter the moments, movements, and mindsets that shaped us.
  • Along the way, we’ll discuss what’s been preserved, what’s been forgotten, and why the Irish still argue over both. Between the stops you will stop into the contemporary places where Dublin’s heart still beats.
  • With time for conversation, reflection, and a chat in a few favourite corners most visitors miss, this tour is culture with the human story intact.

Activity Details

This fascinating tour is for the curious: a journey through Ireland’s story as told by our artists, writers, rebels, and everyday people. We’ll explore some of Dublin’s most compelling cultural spaces—galleries, museums, and libraries that reveal the deeper layers of Irish life. For ravelers who see museums as portals, not boxes to tick. Lovers of art, literature, history—or simply a good story well told.

What You’ll Learn (and feel):

  • How art, literature, and everyday objects reflect the soul of a people
  • How we remember history—and what we leave out
  • How to read Irish symbols, myths, and humour in a gallery or text
  • Mystical and logical – both operate in the same place – How?

What's included

  • Expert tour guide.

What's not included

  • Tip/gratuity for your tour guide

Itinerary

What We’ll Explore (subject to client interests & opening hours):

  1. The National Gallery of Ireland
Start with a curated glimpse into Irish identity through visual art—from 18th-century portraiture to Jack B. Yeats and modern masters. We'll discuss what we see, what’s missing, and how Irish artists wrestled with politics, place, and the pull of Europe.
  2. The Archaeology Wing, National Museum of Ireland
Think gold hoards, bog bodies, and relics that whisper across millennia. We’ll explore the ancient roots of Irish culture—and why so many of our most powerful artefacts were found in fields.
  3. The Chester Beatty
A global jewel box of sacred texts, miniature paintings, and Islamic, Asian and European manuscripts. If you want to see what an Irishman with a serious book habit collected, this is the place.
  4. The Long Room, Trinity Library & Book of Kells
We’ll share the story behind Ireland’s most famous manuscript—and whether it’s worth the line. The Long Room itself? Always magical, even on a busy day.
  5. The Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI)
A living museum of Irish writing—from James Joyce to contemporary voices. Beautifully designed, thoughtfully curated, and often overlooked.
  6. The National Library of Ireland
Visit the W.B. Yeats exhibition in NLI and discover the clear and inspired genius behind Ireland’s greatest poet. He shaped an entire nation’s identity almost single-handedly.
  7. Hugh Lane / Dublin City Gallery
Dublin’s other gallery is home to a collection of modern and contemporary art including the Frances Bacon studio.
